Platinum silicone is a two-component silicone material, which is divided into two components: A and B. Usually component A is liquid silicone, and component B is a catalyst containing platinum components. Some high-quality platinum silicone also have FDA (food-grade) certification. Platinum silicone products are very good, so how do we distinguish platinum products and ordinary silicone products?

1. Distinguish from the manufacturing process

Ordinary silicone and platinum silicone are prepared with different catalysts. In fact, in addition to ordinary silicone and platinum silicone, there are also medical grade and food grade silicone.  Ordinary silicone products are processed with the most traditional vulcanizing agent, although the products are non-toxic and odorless, but a fatal disadvantage of ordinary silicone products is finished products will turn yellow and dark lines with the growth of time.

However, platinum and food-grade silicone products do not have such problems: they are made of imported silicone raw materials and processed by a two-component addition vulcanizing machine. Can’t have the phenomena of change yellow and dark lines.

2. Distinguish from surface and performance

Ordinary silicone cannot achieve the performance effects mentioned in the market, such as: the temperature range of -40~240℃will not change yellow. Due to considering the time and cost, some manufacturers can’t do very well in the vulcanization process, lead finished products has a great odor. The surface is opaque and there is also the phenomenon of sticky dust. All in all, ordinary silicone product is far from the product performance of platinum and food-grade silicone product.

3. Distinguish from the scope of application

Ordinary silicone commonly used in environmentally industrial supplies, accessories, auto parts, and electrical accessories. Platinum silicone, medical-grade and food-grade silicone are widely used in industries that require high safety and environmental protection levels such as medical and hygiene products, daily necessities (such as silicone kitchen utensils, silicone gifts, etc.).
